I wrote this track on the day Russia invaded Ukraine. I was trying to process another level of heartbreak as another unjust war started and another culture had to fight for its right to exist again. As a middle-aged(ish) white man [the demographic that seems to be responsible for most of the problems with the world] I just couldn’t get past the idea that we have to do better. Our oppressing of any culture that isn’t the dominant one is bad enough but the white male idiots in power consistently harm the world in so many ways that leave me heart broken every time I try to look at the world on a larger scale. This was a prayer from the core of my being “God help us. We have to do better.”
